Phonics

Phonics

Phonics is a method of teaching beginners to read and pronounce words by learning the sounds of letters, letter groups, and especially syllables. Phonics helps a student to improve the ability to hear and identify the spelling.

English spelling is more complex. It is grounded on the alphabetic principle. In an alphabetic writing structure, letters are used to denote speech sounds, or phonemes. For example, the word Bat is spelled with three letters, b, a, and t, each representing a sound, respectively, /b/, /a/, and /t/.
